Migration Hall was a dream that began in the late 1980’s when a dedicated group of teachers from Kingsville District High School and community leaders from Kingsville and Gosfield South joined together with a shared vision of a community-use facility.
A vision that began to flourish in the late 1980’s by the teachers of Kingsville District High School. In 1991 this dream was threatened when the government proposed to move our school into the Essex County Separate School Board. Kingsville rallied and the teachers with a group of community leaders, changed the governments mind and began fundraising for Migration Hall – a true community facility.
Hundreds of events have taken place at Migration Hall since opening with The Nylons in 1994. Athletics, artistic and academic functions have been hosted in this modern facility including Music Fest Canada Regionals and OFSAA in recent years.
Numerous professional and community artists have graced the Migration Hall stage. Beginning with The Nylons and followed by such names as Fred Penner, Tommy Hunter, Burton Cummings, Stompin’ Tom Connors, Michelle Wright, Terri Clarke, Stuart McLean and the Vinyl Café, the former Kingsville Repertory Players and Migration Hall Productions, have entertained thousands of patrons.
Throughout the years the Hall has been utilized by a variety of community organizations for events ranging from fundraisers to seminars, church services and even a free Christmas dinner. Events that could not otherwise be held in Kingsville to support our community.
